Like football fans all across the world I like to think that I can give a fairly accurate prediction of how a game will go before a ball has even been kicked, and 9 out of 10 times I am usually miles off (my betting history will back this up). Nonetheless I am going to try, and probably fail, to give my predictions on Liverpool games across the season. I will give my predictions on:
- The line-up (brilliantly photoshopped by myself)
- The final score
- The goal scorers
- Key players
- Any bets on the game (I will tally up all bets to see profit/loss at the end of the season)
Klopp revealed in his press conference yesterday that both Henderson and Keita would miss Wednesday’s tie which leads me to think that the big money summer signing Fabinho should be in line to make his full Champions League debut for the reds. Given Liverpool’s average start to the group Klopp will need to ensure there are 0 slip ups so I can see Trent regaining his spot at right back, meaning the reformation of the Centre Back partnership of Gomez & VVD which has worked so well all season.
Seasoned Champions League sides know that Eastern Europe is never an easy place to go as Napoli found in their first round of fixtures but on the road Red Star are “without” their passionate away support following a ban from UEFA (it is expected that they will instead buy Liverpool allocated tickets) but even with that small collection of fans they were still on the receiving end of a drubbing in Paris, a side that Liverpool beat in their first group game. If the front line start quick, I cant see anything other than a comprehensive Liverpool win.
